I AM a local resident who uses the A417 road daily in my car when commuting to and from work.

As a part of my employment I also drive articulated lorries, which means I have to use these crossroads regularly.

I understand the difficulties of negotiating this junction in a car and in particular from the Leominster direction. If you then consider the size and length of an HGV, even if unladen, it is a difficult task with such poor visibility and considering the speed of approaching traffic.

This problem increases when you try to cross fully loaded. It is not possible to pull off very quickly from a standstill with 44 tonnes and on an incline.

I am amazed there have not been more accidents here, especially involving large goods vehicles. I therefore support Coun Manning's plans to install traffic lights at this accident black spot in the hope that it will make it easier and safer to negotiate this junction.
