Malvern Wells Parish Council set a precept of £42,500, the same as last year, at its meeting on Wednesday evening.

Chairman Brian Wilcock said the council's plans include repairing and replacing bus shelters and providing a hard play area at Assarts Lane.

Councillors discussed providing a bus shelter at Belle Vue Terrace for people catching the bus to Malvern Wells. The council has agreed to provide half the funding for the shelter if Malvern Town Council provides the other half.

Other issues included the 48 gas lamps in Malvern Wells. Although the parish council has been looking after the lamps since 1986, official ownership had not been transferred from Malvern Hills District Council until papers were signed at the meeting.

Mr Wilcock said the lamps cost around £11,000 to run and up to now the cost had been split between the district and parish councils. He did not know whether this arrangement would continue.
