LAST Sunday saw the the defeat of the two remaining Soccer Site teams in the Worcestershire FA Minor Cup, but not without a fight from each of them as Morgan Aero 8 and Talbot Head did the league proud.

Morgan Aero 8 took on Claines FC and were unfortunate to lose by just 1-0. This was after both teams had missed chances and the game could have gone either way right up to the final whistle.

The atmosphere at Talbot Head's game against Hampton WMC was electric as supporters turned out in numbers and gave the home side noisy support. However Hampton, unbeaten this season in the Evesham League, turned out to be stronger than perhaps expected. They went into a 2-0 lead before half time but when Adam Heath reduced the arrears in the second period, the game was on a knife edge. Unfortunately for Talbot, they left themselves open as they went for the equaliser and Hampton were able to break away and score a third. Talbot Manager Dave Benson was disappointed at the end, but paid tribute to the supporters who encouraged the team at every turn.

The league games went very much according to form. In Division One Bishops Frome beat their Fromes Hill neighbours 9-1 but, despite the scoreline, Fromes Hill played well. They have struggled in recent weeks but there were signs of renewed spirit in the side. James Howard scored a good goal for them. For Bishops Frome, Jason Westmacott had a field day with four goals. The others were spread around the team with one each for Shaun Davies, Stuart Graham, Chris Freeman, Matt Beale and Craig Turnbull.

The number 10 proved the downfall of Club AC30. That was the number of players they had available, and it was the same number of goals they conceded against Oak All Stars. Jamie James scored four of them, and Lee Clewitt got a hat-trick. The remaining three came from Chris Stone, Dave Zakkotti and Jamie Gladwin.

In the only Second Division game played, Bell Inn 98 beat Great Malvern Hotel 6-0. The young Malvern team fought hard and gave total commitment. Goalkeeper Dean Watson and acting skipper Jamie Plant shared the man of the match nomination, with special mentions for Lewis Moss and Paul Knivett. Jon Owen of Bell Inn scored a hat-trick and other goals came from Tony Gabb, Paul Rowe and sub Ashley Jones.
