MALVERN Premiers continued their cup dominance with a 1-0 victory over Bromsgrove-based Victoria Barnt Green in the WFA Sunday Junior Cup quarter-final.

MALVERN PREMIER 1,

VICTORIA BARNT GREEN 0

In an even contest both teams found it hard to create chances in the first half with both defences proving hard to break down.

The second half was just as even until the Prems put together a great passing move. Starting on their own 18-yard box and involving seven players, Mark Schuster received the ball and skillfully rounded the defender to set up Jamie Abba with a well taken shot into the back of the net, his fourth goal in as many matches, which gave the Prems a 1-0 lead.

Prems then sat back for 25 minutes and had it not been for some superb defending by the back three of Dave Loader, Andy Collard and Jason Griffiths together with a fine show of goalkeeping skill from Steve Newman, Barnt Green could well have scored.

The Prems continued to play for the win and were rewarded with a ticket through to the semi-final.

This cup win takes Malvern Premier to their second cup semi-final of the season and with another quarter final still to play, this could be Malvern Premier's most successful season in six years.
