A CENTRE providing support to women on a range of issues is celebrating after being awarded a £9,735 grant from the Lloyds TSB Foundation.

The grant will allow the Asha Centre, in London Road, Worcester, to continue its services for women in the region.

Groups which use its facilities include women recovering from substance and alcohol abuse, ethnic minorities and women offenders deemed to be at risk of committing further crimes.

Rupert Harris, business banking manager of Lloyds TSB Worcester branch, was at the centre last week to find out about its work.

"We're very grateful to Lloyds TSB Foundation for this vital grant," said the Asha Centre's manager Jane Gallagher.

"The number of women who use our services is growing all the time and we like to provide each and every one of them with the resources and support they need."
