A SINGER who has recorded her first CD single is hoping to secure a record deal in the future.

Deborah James has teamed up with Worcester songwriters Steve Bridwater and Michael Thomas to record Read You My Heart.

The music for both the title track and the B-side, Handle with Care, were written by Steve, who lives in St John's, Worcester.

Michael penned the lyrics for Read You My Heart, and Deborah wrote the lyrics for Handle With Care.

"It was a project we had been working on together," says Deborah.

"Steve is a guitar teacher and I met him through guitar tuition.

"It's the first original material that I have recorded."

Deborah, who lives in Tallow Hill, Worcester, says Read You My Heart is a light-hearted, catchy song that can be played over and over again.

"It's a love song," she says.

"I hope the CD is the start of the beginning of something."

When Deborah isn't recording, she performs in and around the Midlands in acoustic duo Silvertone and jazz folk blues band The Wednesday Shoes.

"We are looking for a piano player at the moment," says Deborah.

Deborah, who is 24 and studied for a journalism degree in Southampton, has been singing for seven years.

"It's something I've always wanted to do," she says.

"I had a year off before I joined university and I joined a band called The Fairer Sax with a saxophonist and a pianist.

"Then I went to university and set up my own duo."

Anyone who would like to obtain a copy of the CD, or who would like to take on the

piano-playing duties in the Wednesday Shoes, should ring Deborah on 07739 319371.
