IN A match the players will want to forget, Wyre Forest Brintons slumped to their fifth West Midlands League Division One South defeat of the season 3-0 at Malvern Town Reserves.

The young Malvern side had the better of the first half with only poor finishing and good saves by Mark Fisher keeping them out.

But Des Cox scored with a low shot five minutes from half-time and then Barry Hughes increased the home advantage with a close-range finish after the re-start.

Forest Brintons had their chances as Andy Bayliss rounded the keeper but pushed the ball too far.

Bayliss' header from a Tim Brown cross was scrambled away and an Andy Oakes snap shot went just over.

Malvern wrapped up the points when first-teamer Cox's 20-yard free-kick gave Fisher no chance.

All the subs, Tom Wassell, Sam Willey and John Thorpe, were used but it was not Forest Brintons' day and they were lucky not to lose by more.

The players are asked to meet at the Hare and Hounds pub by 12.30pm for Saturday's game.
