FURTHER to the recent report about poly tunnels in Offenham and the easing of packing house planning rules - last summer, driving through southern Spain, we saw a foretaste of what Wychavon planners appear to have in store for the Vale of Evesham.

In the Almeria area there is no green, just mile upon mile of poly tunnels as far as the eye can see. Locals have been moved out as cheap migrant labour has been imported - local life has disappeared under a sea of plastic and big trucks. Industrialised agriculture is a nightmare zone yet Wychavon seems to want to foist it upon us.

In the meantime, the consumer is going more and more for genuine flavour, organics can charge top dollar, cardboard meat and neon-lit (as opposed to sun-fed) veg are on the way out. Quality agriculture and horticulture is the growing market, everyone knows that.

If we're not careful, the planners tail will wag the voters dog and instead of living in the garden of England we'll live in the poly tunnel from hell! Wake up politician please and sort these public servants out.
