A RESPITE care home which caused a storm of protest from neighbours when it was given planning permission last month has been registered by the National Care Standards Commission.

Residents of Compton Close in Southcrest objected to the home, which is being set up by Alison Davis and her partner Richard Crook, of Astwood Bank.

The home will provide night-time respite care for up to four children with learning difficulties or autism.

Despite neighbours' fears that the home would mean more noise and traffic, Redditch Council gave approval for it to operate temporarily for one year before it has to be reassessed.

With its recent registration by the commission, it is likely to start operating from next month following open days for parents on February 1 and 2.
