THE January meeting was hosted by vice-president Jackie Grier as president May Lloyd was ill.
The schedules for the Spring Food, Flower and Craft Day in May were read out, plans to spend funds were discussed and a summer outing put forward for discussion.
Member Jean Lees entertained with a talk on her life in the WAAF during the war and invited questions and reminiscences.
It was very interesting and funny, although some sad occasions were mentioned too.
The overall winner of last year's competitions was May Lloyd, who also won flower of the month. She received a small prize and the rose bowl.
The January competition was won by Hazel Bartlett.
The next meeting on February 9 will be the institute's 20th birthday and it is hoped all members and friends will join in the celebrations.
