THE penultimate round of the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League was held last Sunday on a very arduous and slippery course at Pitcheroak Woods, organised by Redditch Road and Path Cycling Club.

Jason Dingley had a good ride in the Under 12's to take fourth place and first under 10. Later in the Under 16s, George Bate survived several falls to take a good ninth placing with Dominic Jelfs in 20th. The combined Seniors, Juniors Vets and Ladies had Alex Billington the highest placed Bromsgrove Olympique rider finishing second Junior. With Ross Dingley fourth and Peter Yates sixth. Alan Dyus was next in 14th place Senior with brother Ian 19th. Rob Greenaway was first Olympique Veteran rider in 12th place with Geoff Dingley 20th, Ian Billington 22nd, Mike Cooper 24th and Gerry Blackmoor 29th. Francine Billington was still suffering from her recent crash and a heavy cold which relegated her to an unusual third lady. One of those in front of her was the previous National champion however, so her placing was not too unexpected!

Next weekend sees the Olympique's annual prize presentation at the Ladybird in Aston Fields followed on Sunday by the last round of the Cyclo-Cross League at Rugeley, Staffordshire. Please call 01527 833847 for more information.
