A SNOOKER player from Droitwich Spa has potted his way into the record books by setting a new high break target at his local club.

Garry Ford (pictured) shot to the top of the high break chart at Droitwich Snooker Centre, in St Andrews Square, after rattling in a 143 total clearance on Saturday, January 17.

The 35-year-old, who has had three 147 maximums in his career, compiled his effort in a practice match with Birmingham-based opponent Neil Oversby. And it beats the previous long-standing highest total, which was held jointly at 127 by Steve Dunn and Alan Morgan.

Garry, who came close to turning professional about seven years ago, said: "I knew it was coming because I had a 122 before Christmas.

"I knew when I got in the bulk of the balls something was going to happen and to be honest I should be doing it a lot more because the tables are quite generous.

"I'm probably playing as well now as I have for five or six years."
