IT was handicap cup week in the Bromsgrove and Redditch Table Tennis league this week.
In this cup, teams are awarded points according to their strength.
These points are kept in a sealed envelope, which is opened after the game is over, which means that every point has to be played for.
West Midlands Phones C were at home to Droitwich C and won by 341 points to 271 a lead of 70 points, but when the envelope was opened, Droitwich were awarded 175points which meant that they had won by 105.
Barnt Green played at home and they won by 349 points to 288, a lead of 61 but Hoornet were awarded 150 points giving them a win by 89.
The one game the handicappers got right was between West Midlands Phones and Cortex Retail B. The Phones won by 73 points to 231, a lead of 142 points. On opening the envelope, Cortex had been awarded 140 points, which meant they lost by two points.
Lickey Roc's of Division Two were at home to Cortex Retail A, who are second in Division One. The Roc's lost by 140 points but were awarded 200 to give them a win by 60.
Studley Road, who are also in Division Two, lost to higher graded Barnt Green A by 166 points -, 210 to 376. The Terriers were awarded 220 points, giving them a win by 54.
Division One's bottom team, SPSP, were at home to Division One mid-tablers Droitwich A. Droitwich won by 14 points 320 to 306, but SPSP had been awarded five points to provide them a win by 61 points.
