BRIGHT sparks at the Aston Fields Social Club held a charity quiz night and raised £350 for a good cause.

Members of the Stoke Road club pitted their wits earlier this month in aid of the George Mitchell Appeal Fund.

Two-year-old George was diagnosed with a brain tumour last year. His parents are desperately trying to raise the £70,000 needed to take him to New York for treatment.

The club's committee is planning to hold another quiz night, this time just for fun, on February 5. All are welcome and teams of four are required.

Club secretary Phil Robinson said: "We have worked very hard to get the Aston Fields Social Club up and running again and soon we will have a full entertainment programme."

The venue's popularity continues to grow, with a host of town clubs holding regular meetings there, including the Elvis Presley Fan Club, Slimming World and Bromsgrove Folk Club.
