SCHOOL pupils in Bromsgrove have been learning a lesson that could save their lives.
The children of Lickey End First School spent a morning with area road safety officer John Dakin monitoring the speed of cars on nearby Alcester Road. "They were shocked to find the average speed was over the limit of 30mph," said headteacher Ann Hill. "Some of the cars were going quite fast."
The 33 pupils from Year 4 went along in groups to watch the speed camera in action as part of a continuing safety programme at the school.
"The police and the road safety officer have been very helpful," Mrs Hill said. "The school is near some very busy roads and, though we have speed bumps, it can still be dangerous.
"We haven't had an accident and we want to make sure we don't."
