Barnt Green Spartak (2) 3,

Old Hill Town (0) 0

Midland Football Combination Division One

TABLE-TOPPING Spartak racked up their 17th win of the season to maintain their seven point advantage over second placed Pilkington.

They got off to a great start when Delroy Brown beat two defenders and sent a superb cross into the six yard area where Reckey Carter was waiting. He made no mistake as he slid the ball into the net to put Spartak 1-0 up on 70 seconds.

On a very muddy pitch Spartak were still able to play some outstanding attacking football with Brown virtually unstoppable, and the midfield trio of Zahoor Suliman, Lloyd Dawkins and Urel Brown first to every ball.

The Old Hill defence was torn apart time and time again with their 'keeper, Dave Herrington, forced to make some outstanding saves.

On 42 minutes the pressure told as a poorly hit back-pass resulted in the ball going under Herrington's foot and into the open net.

Spartak took their foot of the gas after the break which allowed Old Hill a bit more of the ball, but on 67 minutes they were hit on the break when a Dawkins pass found Brown who was able to beat his marker and square the ball for Karrol Hamber to tuck in the third.

With the game won Spartak seemed to relax further and it enabled Old Hill to create some half-chances which were missed as they fought hard to get on the scoresheet.

Spartak: Maguire, Knox, Afsar Ali (Akbar 57), Gorman, Clarke, Hanif (J Campbell 69), Suliman, Dawkins, D Brown, Carter, U Brown (Hamber 65).
