DEAR EDITOR - On the news recently it was announced that when a motorist is fined for speeding or other offences, he will also be fined an extra £5 towards victim support.
Where I do feel for victims of crime, should that £5 and a lot more come from the criminal?
The same night it was stated that a burglar, while entering a house illegally, was bitten by a dog. When the police came to the man's house it wasn't to peruse the investigation regarding the burglary, it was to arrest the house-owner for his dog (who in my opinion was doing his job), taking a chunk out of the burglar.
Crazy isn't it?
There is a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel. I hear that traffic wardens are to be issued with tape measures to check how far we are parked from the kerb. This may also be the subject of a fine. Stroll on gridlock!
