MARK Chambers' high-flying side proved that their glorious FA Vase adventure is far from distracting their Midland Alliance ambitions this season, writes CARSON WISHART.

The Bees buzzed back after their late 2-1 defeat to table toppers Rocester four days' earlier to hit basement boys Stafford for six and keep them in third spot - six points off the summit with two games in hand.

Following a glut of games in recent weeks - including the dramatic Vase victory over Leamington Spa - Chambers opted to rest the likes of the overworked Mark Crisp, Mark Beddowes and Steve Duncan with Andy Grubb, Adam Blake and Ashley Pulisciano given the chance to shine.

And in a turbo-charged performance, Marlon Sylvester put the home side 2-0 up before half-time with Stafford 'keeper Robert Plant forced to make a string of saves.

Crisp came off the bench in the second half to fire home two goals inside six minutes with Anthony Robinson making it 5-0 before Stafford's misery was compounded by a Nathan Gallagher own goal.

Afterwards, a delighted Chambers said: "A result like this shows that we're still very much focussed on the league. The FA Vase result last week was probably the biggest game in our history but we dealing with those games when they come and then getting our minds back on things. We have games in hand, so we'll keep plugging away.

"We had a disappointing result against Rocester but the good thing is that we weren't outplayed and lost by three or four goals. Against Stafford, we put a lot of pressure on them and were pleased to keep a clean sheet. I decided to change it around a bit because we've got some big games coming up and we need these players as fresh as they can be. It also shows that we have a good squad with the players who came in doing well."

Chambers was due to rest the likes of Duncan for the trip to Ludlow Town in the Polymac Services League Cup last night (Tuesday) but may be tempted to bring him back for the Alliance clash at Stourbridge on Saturday (3pm).
