A SPECTACULAR night of folk music and laughter will mark the end of an era for a popular town club.

The Bromsgrove Folk Club will wave goodbye to the Ladybird Inn, in Aston Fields, a venue it has occupied for many years, at a special gig tomorrow night (Thursday).

It will feature Keith Donnelly, the manic comedian from the north east of England who now lives in Warwick, and will kick off at about 8.15pm. Resident band Fairfield will also make sure the evening goes with a bang.

Club publicity officer Bob Bignell said fans should expect lots of laughs and a real party atmosphere.

The club has enjoyed many happy years at the Stoke Road pub with acts from all over the country performing in front of the friendly crowd.

New venue

However, due to plans to turn part of the pub into a restaurant, the club was forced to find a new venue to hold its regular meetings.

Luckily, the club's committee was able to secure a room at the Aston Fields Social Club, in Stoke Road, just a few minutes walk from the Ladybird Inn.

Opening night will be on Thursday, February 12, and will feature club favourite Bram Taylor. Forthcoming acts will include Singin and Suppin on February 26 and a performance from Bob Fox on March 11.

And don't forget the club's 13th annual folk festival from July 9 to 11, which will include a host of top acts, a beer tent and heaps of other fun activities.

Tickets for the final night at the Ladybird are £4 and non-members will always be welcomed. For further details call Bob on 07702 411149 or visit www.bromsgrovefolkclub.co.uk
