FROM dedicated teachers to sick children who can smile through their pain, every community has its unsung heroes.

Now the Evening News and Tesco Express have teamed up to search for somebody who has made a difference.

We are looking for all kinds of community heroes, from dedicated fund-raisers to amazing parents or anyone who has triumphed in the face of adversity.

The stories of those who are nominated will be told in the Evening News, and the winner will win £500 to be given to the charity of their choice. They will also open the new Tesco Express store in Brindley Road, Warndon.

"A hero selflessly does things for others, dedicates their time to a worthy cause or has overcome difficult circumstances to come out on top," said Fiona Birketts, from Tesco Express.

If you know someone who deserves to be called a hero then send your nominations to Kate Yates at the Evening News, email ky@thisisworcester.co.uk or call 01905 742258.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, February 6.

The nominee must be able to attend the opening ceremony on Monday, February 16, and the charity must be a registered charity or a not-for-profit voluntary organisation.
