VISITING Ledbury Rugby Club pipped Pershore 7-3 in a closely fought Midlands Three West (South) clash on Saturday.

Pershore produced a lack-lustre performance with their game plan being nullified by a Ledbury's determined defence.

The home side's hard running ball carriers Martin Hope, Andy Watson and Carl Evans were not only stopped, but also driven backwards.

Pershore were also guilty of poor decision making. On three occasions they had obvious overlaps but, rather than supplying simple passes to score, the ball was chipped over the top or the pass went astray.

James Martin kicked a penalty to give Pershore the lead, but was then forced to leave the field with an ankle injury which could sideline him for the next few weeks.

Pershore enjoyed ample possession throughout the match, particularly in the lineout where Levin Wismer gave another impressive display. But Ledbury stuck doggedly to their task and were rewarded with a converted try which gave them their fifth league win of the season.

Meanwhile, Worcester Wanderers travelled to Coventry side Dunlop with a team decimated by injury but still managed to come away with a 18-17 Midlands Four West (South) victory.

Wanderers came out in the first half with all guns blazing and quickly took control.

Back row forward John Friend went over for a try an unconverted try and this was followed by a try for full-back Callow which was converted by Joph Young.

This gave Worcester a 12-0 lead and things were going well until an injury just before half time to one of the home side held the game up for 25 minutes.

When the second half started Dunlop were more determined and hit back with two converted tries and a penalty.

This could have been more except for the excellent work from man of the match back row Luke Hogg who was everywhere around the pitch.

Two penalties from Young gave Wanderers a hard-earned victory to move them away from the relegation zone.
