TEAM BATH 2, SWIFTS 1

STOURPORT Swifts returned from the West Country empty-handed after an injury-time goal gave Team Bath all three points in a 2-1 win.

The Dr Martens Western Division result leaves the Swifts anxiously looking over their shoulders as their fellow strugglers begin to edge away from the foot of the table.

Neil Saunders broke Stourport hearts with his 92nd-minute winner for the students, a mis-cued 20-yard effort that found the back of the net after hitting the upright.

It could so easily have been a dream start for the visitors when, after just a minute, John Hayward unleashed a 20-yard drive that home keeper Ali Hines did well to keep out.

But after calming the nerves, the students settled into the game and began to dominate, opening the scoring on 21 minutes.

Skipper Luke Prince threaded a glorious pass to Craig Fullam who slotted home.

Prince, Team Bath's star performer, then sent a shot just over the Stourport bar moments before the break as the hosts looked to extend their lead.

Stourport looked more at ease in the second half and levelled on 62 minutes when Lee Evans' goal-kick was helped on by Kerry Giddings and Andy Wright was on hand to fire into the Bath goal.

But the students finished the match with a three-pronged attack and that policy paid off when Saunders bagged Bath's late winner.
