A GREAT-grandmother from Worcestershire is amazed after discovering her recipe for lemon curd is proving a massive hit - in Russia.

Eighty-five-year-old Jean Munslow never imagined the stir her home-made preserve would create after the recipe was posted on the internet.

Her son Steve, a fluent Russian speaker, had been using a translation website to explain quirky British sayings and traditions, such as 'it's raining cats and dogs'.

One intrigued Russian asked what lemon curd was, and Mrs Munslow's recipe was soon on the site to explain the spread.

Since then more than 1,000 people have logged on to discover the recipe, which has been handed down for three generations.

"They don't have lemon curd in Russia," said Mrs Munslow, of Hallow. "I can't believe the response the recipe has had from what started off as a small thing.

"My son's been joking that we'll now have to put on my recipes for summer pudding and trifle."

The internet message board has not only attracted would-be cooks from Russia.

Russians living in San Diego, New York and Turin have logged on to it, too.

Since the recipe's success, Mrs Munslow and Steve have given radio interviews - and she has even been asked to make her curd on television.

She declined the offer, joking she was "just a little bit too old for all this fame".
