A COUNTY politician is backing a special week aimed at raising awareness for those suffering with bowel cancer.

Peter Luff, Conservative MP for Mid-Worcestershire, has pledged his support for the charity Beating Bowel Cancer's fifth Loud Tie Campaign Week, which starts on Monday and ends on Friday.

During the week, people are encouraged to have fun with wacky ties to increase awareness of bowel cancer while raising funds for the charity.

"I am delighted to be supporting this campaign, which aims to tackle the taboos about the disease and encourage people to talk out loud about symptoms," he said.

"Bowel cancer is the second biggest killer cancer and there is still so much more to be done to raise awareness of symptoms and available treatments, as well as getting across important messages on prevention through a healthier lifestyle.

"The Loud Tie campaign is a novel, relevant and fun way for Beating Bowel Cancer to raise funds for, and awareness of, this serious issue."
