MAKE any kind of reasonable enquiry about what's going on at Worcester Royal Porcelain and you're entitled to an answer. Mind your own business!
That seems a fair interpretation of Margaret Wilson's very huffy response to the concerns that had been raised by Jeff Carpenter and Cliff Lord. She implies, everyone knew, ages ago, about the reported closure of the Porcelain manufacturing centre.
Frankly, there were many of us who didn't - people who care a good deal about Worcester's most prestigious product.
More importantly, Margaret Wilson's letter misses the point on several further counts.
Nobody is underestimating the difficulties of trading today, or wishing to undermine the efforts of management.
But local people are surely entitled to know if a base line of porcelain manufacturing will still be retained.
Royal Worcester proudly describes its manufacturing and decorating departments in their visitor leaflet. But how can they then sell Worcester porcelain at their factory outlets, unless some of it is made here?
PETE GREEN, Worcester.
