A LEADING child advice bureau is appealing for volunteers from across Worcestershire run the West Midlands centre.

ChildLine is searching for people to become involved with the counselling, training and administration of its helpline.

It is on the lookout for new and interesting ways of getting people involved in helping raise money, while giving volunteers the opportunity to meet new people and gain more confidence.

A spokesman for ChildLine explained, "You can run a marathon, undertake a bike ride, take part in one of our golf days or think up your own fund-raiser and we will give you all the support you need."

The charity is a free 24-hour helpline for children in danger or distress. The volunteer counsellors are trained to comfort, advise and protect callers on many problems - including sexual abuse, family tensions and bullying.

ChildLine West Midlands, based in Birmingham, is one of the helpline's 10 counselling centres across the UK.
