FORMER Malvern reality television star Nush Nowak is threatening to sue the NHS following claims an error was made by surgeons who first operated on her severely broken leg.

Last August, Nush, who found fame after appearing in the Channel 4 hit show Big Brother, was the victim of a vicious mugging after a night out in London, and was left with a shattered leg.

She suffered massive internal bleeding and had to undergo eight hours of emergency surgery at the NHS-run Royal Free Hospital, in North London.

Now, Nush, aged 24, has spoken of the pain she is suffering following an alleged error made by surgeons who operated on her leg and says she has spent the last five months in agony.

She has become almost immobile and is being looked after by her parents at the family's home in Barnards Green, Malvern.

Now she will have to wait a further 18 months for more surgery and is considering suing the Royal Free Hospital.

She told The Mail on Sunday that a Worcestershire consultant last week told her the screws inserted in her thigh during surgery at the London hospital are too long.

They stick into her hamstring muscle, tearing it with every step, while the wire holding her knee together is steadily unwinding and threatening to break her skin.

"The surgery and the period immediately after it was the most painful, most uncomfortable time of my life - I just can't describe the agony - and suddenly I'm faced with it again," she said.

"It gets harder to bounce back with each setback and this one now is particularly galling.

"It's not just that it's holding me back from getting on with my life, it's that the prospect of more surgery keeps me bound to the past and to the mugging."

A spokesman for the Royal Free Hospital said he was sorry to hear Nush was suffering more problems with her leg and was looking forward to hearing directly from her to discuss how the hospital could help.
