MALVERN Town Council is planning to send a delegation to a meeting called by Worcestershire County Council to outline its budget plans.

The county is planning a succession of public consultations and will meet parish council representatives at County Hall on Thursday (January 22).

The county is proposing an increase in council tax of 5.3 per cent, following news of its financial settlement from the government. Its cabinet will discuss the results of the consultation on February 9. The council tax will be set on February 19.

The county council's bill is the largest element of the council tax, which includes a precept by district and parish councils, the police authority and, in some cases, Malvern Hills Conservators.
