WE were very pleased to read that the Holly Mount United Reformed Church is joining the Fairtrade campaign to help tackle the poverty of farmers in developing countries.
This situation was brought to our attention by Greenlink about a decade ago. As humanists we decided there and then that we could not continue to consume goods for which the farmer in a developing country was not paid sufficient to make a reasonable living. Since then we have purchased, whenever possible, Fairtrade goods.
