EXPRESS 88 travelled to Martley for this Katherine Rayer Cup quarter-final match against Premier Division side Martley Spurs.

MARTLEY SPURS 3, EXPRESS 88 2

Express started the game well and took an early lead when Mark Taylor found space to cross from the right to Andy Shepherd who headed home.

With Express controlling most of the play a change in the weather saw a chance in leaders as Martley scored two quick goals due to a lacklustre defensive clearance and a goal mouth scramble.

In awful weather conditions Lee Hooper managed to draw the game level just before half time when he twisted and turned in the box and chipped the ball over the keeper.

In the second half the sun broke through but Express' performance wasn't any brighter. Martley's Adam Baldwin restored their lead with a direct free kick on the edge of the box. From this point Express threw caution to the wind had pushed for an equaliser but efforts from Hooper, Shepherd and Kelly all went astray.

Thanks got to MG Joinery for kit sponsorship.
