ARTISTIC youngsters are being given the chance to develop their creative skills with an exciting double bill of art clubs.

Stef Connolly of Springfield Lane, Kidderminster, is giving step-by-step lessons on art and design to eight to 12 year olds at Kidderminster Library and 13 to 17 year olds at The Fred Bennett Centre in George Street, Kidderminster.

The pre-teen club, which takes place from 1pm until 3pm on Saturdays, is designed to encourage youngsters to experiment with artistic techniques. The new "teenage club", which runs from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on Tuesdays, includes a variety of activities including designing phone and CD covers and tee-shirts.

"The eight to 12-year-olds do all sorts of things such as painting, drawing, making cards and mobiles, as well as theme work," she said.

"And Tuesdays are step-by-step classes, which will help with GCSE course work, as well as including craft work, painting and drawing."

Wyre Forest District Council's assistant development officer, Susannah Ronan, who helped organise the classes, added: "The teenage class is aimed at improving the artistic skills that people who are interested in art and design have already got.

"We've got about 10 in each class at the moment but have about 15 spaces left for the Tuesday session and 10 for the Saturday."
