THE organiser of a reunion for wartime pupils at a Kidderminster school is appealing for photos from the era to help people recall "the good old days".

Percy Woodhouse wants to get together ex-pupils of Sladen Modern School, now Sladen Middle School, who attended between October, 1940 and July, 1945.

A special reunion celebration is taking place at the school on Friday May, 7 and already some 50 pupils and staff have confirmed they will be attending. "The pupils would now all be aged between about 70 and 76,and the staff would obviously be older - perhaps it will be a last opportunity for us to get together and talk about our schooldays," said Mr Woodhouse, now living in Telford.

He is particularly keen to track down any school pictures of pupils during the era, as official school photographs were not taken during the war years.

He is also trying to trace any picture of the laying of the foundation stone on April 29, 1939 by the Dean of Worcester and of the dedication of the school on October 27, 1942 by the Bishop of Worcester.

The pictures are needed for a commemorative booklet he is producing to mark the event.

The free event on Friday, May 7 will start at 4.30pm and include a tour of the school, refreshments and the chance to catch up with old schoolmates.
