THE number of people caught drinking and driving in the police force area covering Wyre Forest fell during the festive period.
Nine per cent of motorists were caught, compared with 25 per cent the year before, West Mercia Constabulary reported. Of those arrested, 41 per cent were aged between 21 and 30.
Out of 864 drivers breathalysed, 77 were arrested for drink-driving in the West Mercia area between December 18 and January 2.
Among those breathalysed, 187 were tested after being involved in a collision. Seventeen of them gave a positive breath test or failed to provide a specimen.
