STUDENTS from Pershore High School have been recognised for their contributions to the community.

The pupils were nominated for the Co-op's Community Action Award by fellow students and teachers for making life better for others in the school and wider community.

Headteacher Clive Corbett said he was proud of what the young people had achieved. "For the school as a whole this is an indication of the extra curricular involvement of our youngsters - it's not all about exams," he said.

Among the youngsters recognised were Nimneh Hyde, who helped set up a skatepark near her home, Adam Parslow, who has campaigned for better transport in his village and Samantha Alton who has been teaching French to younger children.
