IT comes as no surprise that the plans for a park-and-ride at Whittington have almost been rubber-stamped.
After all, everyone knows it is just an overspill car park for the hospital.
Environmental issues do not come into it. With so many complaints about parking at the new hospital, I wouldn't be surprised if central government hasn't given the council a grant to build an overspill to save face.
I also find it a bit rich for the county council to criticise traffic and parking when it enjoys the largest staff car park at its County Hall building.
Turn that into a park-and-ride and leave the Green Belt alone.
