PERSHORE High School pupils have answered the call to help the Samaritans help others.
The youngsters have collected about 20 old mobile phones towards an appeal that was launched before Christmas.
The phones are to be exchanged for cash to raise funds for the vital listening charity based in Worcester. On call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to distressed and suicidal people, including those in the Vale and beyond, branch volunteers need to raise £25,000 a year to make ends meet.
Jill Bretherton, chairman of The Samaritans' Friends said she was delighted with the donation. "It is wonderful and I would like to thank all the children who have given phones. I hope the appeal continues to be given support well into the New Year." Old mobiles can be dropped off at the Journal offices on Evesham High Street.
