THE official launch of its Carers' Unit is being celebrated by Worcestershire County Council's Social Services and everyone is invited to Pierpoint House, Worcester, to join in.

The new unit, which has been set up and designed to make life easier for county-wide carers, will act as a central point for information for both carers and professionals.

Liz Eyre, of Broadway, Cabinet member responsible for social services, said: It is so important that we have this unit set up for carers. The carer's priority is always the wellbeing of the person being cared for but it is essential we look after the carers too."

She added: "Now that we have this unit in place we are planning new initiatives focussing on enabling those who choose to care to do so without detriment to their own health or inclusion in society."

Everyone and anyone with an interest in caring can attend the opening day or get information on 0800 389 28 next Thursday between 1pm and 5pm or email carers@worcestershire.gov.uk
