VILLAGERS' SUPPER: The next Villagers' Supper will be held in the village hall on Saturday, January 24, and tickets for the occasion are now on sale. Readers who have attended other such suppers in the past know that they are designed to bring together in fellowship all those who, while not necessarily being regular attenders at any church, are interested in hearing about the impact Christian faith makes when taken into the workplace. On this occasion Detective Inspector Tim Nunn will be talking about how his faith affects his life and work as a police officer. Tim is at present a detective inspector in Hastings and he and his family are active members of a church in Eastbourne. As always, the talk will be preceded by supper prepared by a team of people headed by Liz Nunn and Jenny Phillips. Tickets priced £5 can be obtained from them (telephone 870246 or 870596) or from Mel and Carolyn Curnuck at the Post Office. Lifts can be arranged.

ST JAMES' CHURCH: St James' Church was the venue, as usual, for the Harvington Singers Christmas concert and, judging by the applause and the comments which followed, this was well received. Thanks were warmly expressed to all concerned with the success of the event (not least the audience) by Richard Sharp, chairman of the Singers, in his remarks at the end of the evening. He said that, although the choir continues to grow, there is still room for more good voices and anyone interested should watch for the announcement of the new season's rehearsals. Christmas services in the church were well attended, particularly the Family Service held early on Christmas Eve when 150 people, mostly parents with their children, were present. It was a joyful occasion. The social committee's next planned event will be a skittles evening at the Coach and Horses on Tuesday, February 3. Tickets at £6 each will cover the cost of a buffet supper and can be obtained from any member of the social committee (or ring 871228). A licensed bar will be available.
