POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 20-year-old Mamble man died on his way home to the Sun and Slipper Inn from work in Wolverhampton.

David Carr, 20, was the son of Roger and Wendy Carr who have run the popular village pub for the past 10 years.

He was a former Bewdley High School pupil and was working in a four-year aeronautical engineering apprenticeship at Goodrich's in Wolverhampton.

David's mother said her son was a "loveable and kind lad with thousands of friends who have all been devastated by his death".

The accident happened when Mr Carr's Ford Focus was involved in a collision with an Audi Sports Cabriolet at around 5.30pm, on the A449 near Stourton, on Monday, January 5.

The 49-year-old Audi driver was taken to hospital but was not seriously injured.

Staffordshire police have appealed for anyone who saw the accident to contact PC Matt Walendsker on 01785 238531.
