POLICE are appealing for information after a pensioner was found injured in Stourport-on-Severn on Tuesday morning.

A passer-by discovered the 83-year-old man at the bottom of steps near the footbridge over the canal in Vale Road in Stourport.

He was found at 7am on Tuesday and was taken to Worcester Royal Infirmary with injuries to his eyebrow, shoulder and hand.

The man cannot recall exactly what happened.

"The man was wet and cold when he was found and we are not sure how long he had been lying there," said Insp Tony Love from Kidderminster Police Station.

"We're looking at the possibility his injuries were sustained as he fell, but would like help piecing together his movements.

"We know he made a phone call at 12.30am and that he may have walked between Stourport Police Station, Tesco and The Rising Sun public house in Lombard Street."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Insp Love at Kidderminster police station on 08457 444 888.
