JOHN Archer, of Marsden Road, was found guilty of being drunk and disorderly on Marsden Road on the 9th inst.
PC Bonell provided the case. Supt Hayes said there were 15 previous convictions against the defendant on similar charges but he had not been brought before the court since 1902.
Mr Morgan: "We thought you had turned over a new leaf, Archer. Is it not about time you did take the opportunity of a fresh start?"
When asked by the clerk whether he were guilty or not, the defendant replied: "I suppose I had better pay the fine gentlemen, that is all I have to say on this matter."
He was fined 2s 6d and asked to pay costs in the sum of 5s 6d.
