MOUNT Pleasant residents have been warned their vehicles could be towed away if they park outside their homes while work to repair a road is carried out.

The footway along the section of road between Pool Bank and Ivor Road is to be rebuilt, kerbing is to be installed and patching is to be carried out on the carriageway.

The work, which will cost about £20,000, will begin on Monday, January 26, and will take up to two weeks.

Worcestershire County Council's highways manager for Redditch, Jim Casey, said: "The no-parking or stopping order will be in place 24 hours a day. People will be allowed to drive down the road.

"Half of it will be closed off and there will be traffic light control."

Mr Casey said anyone who parked on the road would be given a parking ticket or risk having their vehicle towed away.

"Unfortunately, it will cause disruption and we apologise for that. But the road and the footway are in need of major repairs and it is one of the main arterial routes for buses into the town centre.

"The only way we can carry out the work is to put a no-parking order on it," he added.
