Green-fingered youngsters from a Spa middle school are set to benefit from their new environmental area.

The scheme is a joint initiative between Witton Middle School and BCTV-Worcestershire Community projects. The volunteer group, which helps with environmental projects, spent six days creating pathways and living willow structures at the Old Coach Road school site.

The project started in 2002 and children are set to reap the benefits when the weather improves in the spring time.

Head David Coll said: "The children have responded to the environmental area with great interest.

"In the spring we intend to use the area for environmental science and hope this will give them a greater appreciation of their natural environment."

Mr Coll added that the school has also created a structured area off the playground with seating so the children can relax at play time.
