Evesham 25pts,

Old Yardleians 43

AFTER the previous week's encouraging performance, Evesham went into Saturday's game in confident mood.

The visiting pack started with their traditional power and dominant style that Evesham had no answer to. And, after 25 minutes, Old Y's had raced into a 21-0 lead.

Although the score didn't reflect it, Evesham's backs were getting the better of their opponents and Matt Jacques raced in for an unconverted try.

Rich Taylor then added a penalty but the opposition finished the half with another converted try to lead 28-8.

Evesham woke up after the break and turned on the pressure that was rewarded when Jacques went in at the corner.

Both sides now had their moments but it was the visiting side who managed to score again, twice in swift succession in fact, and the conversions gave them a healthy 43-13 lead.

The last 20 minutes was all Evesham and Ben Whatmore powered over for an excellent try that Taylor converted.

Evesham finished the game brightly and Jacques completed his hat-trick in the corner.
