Bewdley Tn Ladies 4, Evesham Utd 7

AFTER a below par first half performance, Evesham produced a scintillating second period to storm to a tremendous result in their final Wyvern Associates League Cup game of the season.

Looking out of sorts after their two-week break, it was goalkeeper Sam Jones who kept her side in the game with two fine early saves.

However, she was left helpless when Karina Webb ran on to a loose ball to score with a shot that went in off the underside of the bar.

United weren't behind as Lisa Tustin's run and astute lob levelled Sunday's scores

Two minutes later, with the home defence in disarray, Nicky Bond set up Tustin for an easy second.

After Bond had almost produced a third it was Bewdley who scored again courtesy of Webb's deflected strike.

Whatever the management team of Brian Gregg and Alan Padfield had to say at half-time certainly worked.

Tustin again got clear but only succeeded in placing her shot straight at the goalkeeper. Two minutes later, however, she was again the tormentor as she picked up the ball wide on the left, cut inside the full back and hammered the ball into the net.

The visitors then added a fourth when a cross from Lola Hughes deflected off a defender for Bond to round the keeper and push the ball home.

A minute later and Tustin was back on the scoresheet as she again showed great stre-ngth and determination to ride a number of tackles and score her fourth of the afternoon.

Evesham were now totally dominating the game and Tustin had another effort well saved before Bond hit a post at the end of a mazy run.

Tustin scored her fifth after Joanne Norman fed the ball to Tori Southern who saw her shot parried by the goalkeeper.

A minute later it was seven when Southern scored a well deserved goal after her run took her past some flagging defenders.

With the visitors now easing off, Bewdley began to come back into the game but they never seriously threatened the visitors' goal until three minutes from time when Webb lashed home a loose ball.

The same player then wriggled free in stoppage time to complete her hat-trick, but it was undoubtedly the performance of Tustin that earned the plaudits.

The ladies are back in league action on Sunday when they entertain Redditch United at Common Road (2pm).
