Newtown Jnrs 4,

Littleton Jnrs U-13 5

THE division's top two sides produced a feast of fine football with the winners taking over at the summit.

Littleton started brightly and were soon rewarded when Matt Goss held off two defenders before showing great composure to find the net.

Littleton piled on the pressure and Lance Smith and Ryan Clarke both missed good opportunities to increase the lead.

Newtown gradually fought their way into the game to equalise before Clarke was thwarted by a fine save.

Matt Taylor then produced a terrific goalline clearance and Tom Cuthbert produced an acrobatic stop on the line to ensure interval parity.

Newtown took the lead after the restart but this only acted as a spur and Goss converted Matt Smith's centre.

They then took the lead when the latter's corner shot squirmed into the net. Dan Keen's wonderful chip then gave the keeper no chance wonderful chip to give the keeper no chance but Newtown were far from finished and sloppy defending saw them score again.

Steve Edghill and Lance Smith, though, combined to set up Goss to complete his hat-trick before another defensive error allowed the hosts a last minute fourth.

Kempsey Warriors A 1,

Evesham Utd U-10 3

EVESHAM came out on top in Satu-rday's friendly, but competitive match.

Sam Ford whipped in a cross from the right that was deflected into the net. Henry Woods soon extended the lead following fine work by Ford and Louis Brown.

A defensive lapse allowed Kempsey to pull one back before United extended the lead with an own goal.

Defender Owen Jones never put a foot wrong in dealing with Kempsey's attacks and, with both with goalkeepers in inspired form, another goal was always unlikely.

Kempsey Warriors B 0,

Evesham Utd U-10 6

KEMPSEY'S second string started brightly and threatened early on but it was Evesham who took the lead after fine work from Henry Woods saw Andrew Powell fire home.

The second goal was a delight as George Darling dribbled past three players before firing home for his first goal for the team.

Woods hit the third after a cross from James Bearcroft and Craig Whiting then latched on to another Bearcroft cross to make it 4-0.

Woods then grabbed his second before Powell completed his brace with a shot into the far corner.

Evesham Utd U-13 1,

Chasewell Park 4

EVESHAM fell behind to a goal after only 30 seconds and then failed to defend the edge of their box to go 2-0 behind.

To their credit, United gave the champions-elect a difficult time at the back and David Huggins scrambled one in just before half-time.

In the second half Evesham fell even further behind to two more and, trailing 4-1, a scoreline that flattered the away team, the Robins kept going and came closest to narrowing the gap with a long-range effort from Scott Andrews that was just too high.

Cheltenham Saracens 2,

Evesham Utd U-11 7

MICHAEL Savidge's early strike set United on their way to a comfortable triumph.

It was 2-0 at the break after Olly Scarrott had netted and the hosts were hit by a second half salvo of a handful of further goals with Scarrott completing his hat-trick.

Karl Myers, Dave Thompson and Olly Davies were the other scorers.

Salford Rvrs 1, Evesham Utd U-15 2

UNITED came away with all the points in a top of the table clash after a physical battle.

The visitors showed how good they were defensively in an evenly matched first half of few chances.

John Howman, Nick Bennet and Scott Bradley and some great saves from Jason Smith ensured a goalless opening period.

The second half saw the deadlock broken through Zac Warren who made good use of Jon Thompson's long throw.

A swift equaliser from Shaun Reid, who beat three defenders and the goalkeeper, stunned United but right back Josh Mountney made good use of the wind to lob the goalkeeper and snatch victory.

Blockley 1,

Evesham Utd Robins U-10 2

THE two sides were finally able to play their first round cup tie and it was the Robins who continued their winning run against spirited opponents.

United created a number of first half chances before David Stringer finally put them in front at the end of an excellent passing move.

Shortly after the break Blockley got a deserved equaliser when Josh Keyte fired home.

Robins pressed for a winner and Mark Washington won the tie with a glancing header from Stringer's free-kick. The Robins will now play at Pershore in the second round on Saturday.

Henrician U-16 4, Ferndale 0

MERCIAN Festival League leaders Henrician continued their excellent campaign with a comfortable victory last Sunday.

The Kidderminster visitors rode their luck in the first half but, once the Prince Henry's side stepped on the gas, there was only going to be one winner.

The first of the four goals came courtesy of Scott Williams and the same player then produced a carbon-copy finish to make it 2-0 after good work from Ashley Powell and Chris Lynes.

Williams then completed his hat-trick following a deft flick from Lynes and the victory was completed when the home side's goal hero added a fourth, after again combining with Lynes, to complete an outstanding individual display.

Peopleton U-15 8, Mickleton 1

AFTER being denied by a series of fine saves from James Carter, Peopleton finally found the net when Chris Thompson scored from 15 yards.

The visitors were in control throughout and they led comfortably by three goals at half-time after James Allen and Alex Spencer had followed Thompson's lead.

Matt Murphy was instrumental in many home attacks and he was rewarded with his side's fourth goal.

Within a minute, Allen netted again and two more for Spencer completed his treble and left Peopleton in seventh heaven!

Mickleton grabbed a deserved consolation but there was still time for Will George to beat the defiant Mickleton goalkeeper deep into injury-time.

Drakes Broughton U09 2, Vale FC 2

OLIVER Saunders struck twice to give Drakes the advantage as half-time approached but Ben Ladds reduced the arrears on the stroke of the whistle.

Will Chambers produced some great stops in the Vale goal, while at the other end Jack Finch was outstanding in the home back line.

However, he was helpless to intervene just seconds from time when Sam Marshall headed in an equaliser from a sweetly struck flag-kick.

Tewkesbury Yth 1, Littleton U-12 2

TRICKY conditions affected both teams in what proved a closely-contested match.

The home side led at half-time after a late first half goal but Littleton's midfield stamped its authority on the match after the restart when two goals secured victory.

Player of the match Clayton Threadgold set up Jamie Banks with a superb tackle and defence splitting pass that the scorer despatched superbly.

Constant pressure then paid off for the visitors with a late winner from Kieran Walker following a scramble at a corner.
