Team Bath 0, Evesham Utd 0

A SECOND successive clean sheet, an extension of their unbeaten sequence to four matches and a leap of two places in the Dr Martens League Western Division table. Not a bad afternoon's work from Dave Busst's men!

It could have been so much better for the Robins had Team Bath keeper Ally Hines not turned Lee Ross's second half shot on to the crossbar but, on the other hand, manager Busst would have settled for a continuation of his side's undefeated run and he had goalkeeper Tim Clarke to thank for preserving parity.

Clarke has his critics but he turned in a super show at the league newcomers, saving his best until last when he kept out a late strike from Caleb Kamara-Taylor with a magnificent reflex stop.

The hosts were forced to play the final ten minutes with ten men, having used all three substitutes before losing a fourth man with an injury. However, they came closest to snatching victory although, earlier in the second half, it was United who seemed most likely to break the deadlock with Ross diverting a Grant Pinkney centre narrowly wide and then seeing Hines and the woodwork deny him a fourth goal in four games.

Evesham, lacking injured trio Linton Bailey, Steven Hands and Craig Pountney, created the better chances in a match in which both sides tried to pass the ball around in the difficult conditions.

Former Bristol Rovers striker Peter Beadle was a danger early on for Busst's reshuffled side that saw Marc Burrow and Inderpaul Khela back in the back four and Craig Ball recalled in midfield with Sean Flynn partnering Ross up front.

Beadle was only denied by Clarke's point-blank stop and a last-ditch tackle from Khela but the United rearguard is a far sturdier unit these days and the Common Roaders were well worth their point.
