Rocester 1

Alvechurch 3

ALVECHURCH boss Neil Bryan was left praising his team's polished performance as they rocked high-flying Rocester on Saturday.

The visitors banished the frustrations of some disappointing results over recent weeks to produce one of their best displays of the season against the Midland Alliance's former leaders.

And not only did the shock victory significantly boost neighbours Studley's promotion chances, it left everyone at Lye Meadow positively upbeat.

"It was a great result for us and a fantastic performance," enthused proud Bryan. "Everyone here is now really looking forward to the second part of the season."

Brett Fitzpatrick and Keith Rostill scored each side of half time with Rocester clawing back a penalty after Ben Kirby rashly upended his man inside the box.

It meant that Alvechurch needed to defend gallantly at times but Liam O'Shea restored Alvechurch's two-goal cushion later on.

"We have created chances all season but have sometimes struggled in defence," admitted Bryan. "But against Rocester, we defended how a football team should defend which was very pleasing indeed.

"It was enjoyable to watch and a result we thoroughly deserved. With respect to them, they fell apart after we got scored again."

The 'Churchmen now entertain mid-table Stourbridge on Saturday.
