Continental Star 0

Feckenham 1

FECKENHAM boss Lee Adams believes the 1-0 scoreline didn't do his Midland Combination Premier Division outfit justice on Saturday.

Steve Ferguson's strike 15 minutes after the break was the difference between the two sides but The Millers missed a glut of chances on a frustrating afternoon for Lee and Co.

Just before and after his goal, Ferguson missed opportunities with Stuart Douglas also failing to find the back of the net when in sight of goal.

The near misses boosted Continental's confidence as they piled men forward in search of an unlikely point.

But visiting 'keeper Dave Gordon was in sparkling form to deny Continental's advances with Mark Davies particularly impressive at the back.

Feckenham managed to bravely absorb the pressure until they unleashed the rested Bryan Powell from the bench 15 minutes from time with the in-form striker going on to cause havoc in and around Continental's penalty area.

He went close on three clear-cut occasions to leave Adams saying: "Considering the chances we created, we could have won the game 5-0. We were much the better side and put on a solid performance."

"I think when they saw us miss those chances, they thought they'd go for it and pushed men forward in numbers.

"But we defended well and there was never a time when they were cutting us up."

Adams now looks set to have John Oliver and James Aiden available again for Saturday's home clash with Castle Vale.

l Feckenham booked a Smedley Crooke Memorial Cup semi-final revenge mission against Northfield after a late surge sunk Fairfield 2-1. Tom Madden and Simon Redhead were on target for The Millers.
