STUDLEY boss Mark Chambers has called on the whole of Redditch to get behind his team's courageous quest for FA Vase glory this Saturday.

The Bees take on Midland Combination Premier Division outfit Leamington Spa in one of the biggest games in their history to make the last 16 of the prestigious competition.

Up to 1,000 fans could swell The Beehive as Chambers' men bid to book their place in their first major final since the Midland Alliance club was formed 32 years ago.

Reaching the fourth round, following the 3-0 victory over Leicestershire Senior League outfit Blaby & Whetstone, is already the furthest the club has gone in the FA Vase.

And Chambers believes that there's no reason why Studley, currently second in the Midland Alliance, can't go all the way and have their suits measured for an Upton Park final on May 15.

"I'm not one of these managers who always bangs on about how the league is more important for us," said Chambers whose players could bank a further £1,500 with a victory. "Make no mistake this is a massive game for us and we want to go as far as we can.

"It's a great time for everyone involved with the club and we know that Leamington will bring around 500 fans with them. If we can match that, it would be fantastic and we hope that everyone in Studley and Redditch will get behind us on the day."

He added: "The players just can't wait for the whistle to blow. A lot of them have played for clubs during their careers like Worcester City and Bromsgrove, so there's no question of them freezing on their big day. The competition is also good for our fringe players who are desperately trying to push their way into the side."

Chambers also admitted: "I realise that we're going into this match as favourites and that we have a realistic chance of progressing.

"But we're not taking Leamington lightly and we'll have to be on our game from the first whistle.

They knocked out Durham City in the last round which is no easy task as they're top of the Northern League.

"So it should be a great occasion and certainly all my players are highly motivated and raring to go."

Meanwhile, Chambers has played down the potential return of former Liverpool and Coventry City defender David Burrowes to the side as a one-off appearance against Leamington.

Burrowes officially played his last game for Studley against Oldbury last month before moving to France with his family.

But the respected full-back is returning to Britain on family business this weekend and has made himself available for selection.

"It's no big thing as our game just happens to coincide with him coming back," confirmed Chambers. "He's available for us but it may be a little harsh to drop someone from the team who's been doing well over the last few weeks, so his inclusion may depend on our injury situation."

Midfielders Andy Johnson and Mark Beddows are doubtful with a back and knee injury respectively while Dave Wilson is cup tied.
